Mesa Verde National Park
An archaeological wonder with hundreds of homes preserved by overhanging cliff ledges.
Hovenweep National Monument
The starkly beautiful groupings of high towers and six separate prehistoric ruins, including a kiva (a circular underground ceremonial chamber), were built by the Anasazi.

Four Corners Monument
The only point in the U.S. where four states meet: Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah.
Natural Bridges National Monument
A relatively small remote area in southeast Utah, 120 miles south of Moab. The three natural bridges that were formed when meandering streams slowly cut through the canyon walls are named Kachina, Owachomo and Sipapu in honor of the Native Americans who made this area their home.

Desert Tips
The rules are different here. Your safety is your own responsibility. This is a land of blind canyons, twisting river valleys and sheer cliffs.

The 100-mile-long sandstone wrinkle in the earth’s crust that resembles the domes of the U.S. capitol building is called Waterpocket Fold.

The Mighty Colorado River
It rolls along, the source of key recreational activities that add economic vitality to Moab. It is the Colorado River, 1,450 miles in length.

Dead Horse Point State Park
Perhaps Utah’s most spectacular state park, Dead Horse Point is a promontory of stone surrounded by steep cliffs that provide breathtaking views of canyon country and the pinnacles and buttes of Canyonlands National Park.

Canyonlands National Park
Canyonlands National Park is a geologic wonder. This is Utah’s largest national park. You can look thousands of feet down to the whitewater rapids of the Colorado River or thousands of feet up to the soaring red rock pinnacles, cliffs and spires.The merging paths of the Green and ColoradoRivers have sliced Canyonlands into three districts. While they adjoin each other, each area must be reached from different entry points. The travel time to each of the three districts is several hours apart.

Arches National Park
This is the largest number of natural stone arches in the country, all formed by the weathering of openings in vertical slabs of sandstone. Along with the more than 2,000 arches are a diversity of fins, spires, balanced rocks and other startling geological formations.
