Hovenweep National Monument
The starkly beautiful groupings of high towers and six separate prehistoric ruins, including a kiva (a circular underground ceremonial chamber), were built by the Anasazi.

The name is a Ute word meaning "deserted valley." This is a remote area along the Utah-Colorado border.
Open 24 hours a day, trails open from sunrise to sunset only.
Directions
Located 113 miles south of Moab. Road to the visitor center is paved from Cortez, Colorado, on County Road G and from White Mesa, Utah, on US Hwy 262.
Visitor center open daily 8am-6pm, April-September; 8am-5pm, October-March. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Entrance Fees
Vehicles $6, one vehicle and all passengers for seven days. Individual $3, one individual on bicycle, foot, or motorcycle, good for seven days.
Small campground near the visitor center, open year-round, first-come first-served. Sites designed for tent camping.
