"We love your books! We pick them up each visit. They are all so beautiful and well done. They are the best guide books of any place we visit. We especially love the Menu Guide" Charles from Michigan
Local Wineries
A winery is probably not what you would expect to find in this sports paradise, but Moab has vineyards and two wineries.

The hot summers and cool nights make for good grapes, resulting in various world-class wines. How did this come to be? In the 1970s, mine closings in this area hit the economy hard. Utah’s Economic Development Commission underwrote a study that found the regional soil ideal for growing grapes.
Castle Creek Winery is located at Red Cliffs Lodge, 14 miles northeast of Moab along Scenic Byway 128. It uses locally grown grapes to produce pinot noir, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, chenin blanc, gewurztraminer and chardonnay.

Castle Creek Winery has produced more than 30 award-winning wines. It currently produces more than 15,000 combined gallons of wine annually. Free tours by request. The tasting room overlooks the Colorado River. Tasting room hours: Monday–Saturday 12-5:30pm. 866-812-2002, (435) 259-3332, www.castlecreekwinery.com.

Spanish Valley Vineyards & Winery is six miles south of Moab. Take Stocks Drive to Zimmerman Lane off US Hwy 191. Spanish Valley is a small, family-owned farm and winery producing cabernet sauvignon, syrah, gewurztraminer and riesling wines. The winery uses only Utah-grown grapes, allowing it to use the Utah wine label. According to Wine Spectator, Spanish Valley has “produced consistently high-scoring wines.” Free tours of their vineyards and winery.

A tasting room is available. Hours: March-October, Monday–Saturday 12-7pm; November and February, Monday–Saturday 12-5pm; December and January by appointment. No tastings on Sundays. (435) 259-8134, www.moab-utah.com/spanishvalleywinery.
